My computer will not go on standby? please help?

When i try and put the pc on standby this message comes up "microsoft.net framework v.1.1. 4322 Update is preventing the machine from entering standby" please help

go to windows update and download and install the new patch for framework 1.1
u need to go to control panel appearance and themes then chose a screen saves the they will be a number like for example 1254 u need to click on that and set it for like 10 5 20 exc....
My laptop won't hibernate - same error message.

The error message suggests shutting the microsoft net framework 1.1.4322 update sevice. I tried it - it works!!!

To shut the service - right click on "My Computer", choose "manage", then click on "sevices" until you get a list of all the sevices. Scroll down to "microsoft NET. fra...", select/highlight it and then click on "stop". Don't worry that you may be doing something irreversible. You can always retrace your steps and click "start".
