Whats wrong with installing the .NET framework?

a lot of them are made using the framework which is why you need to install it. it only takes a few minutes and then you wont have to try so hard looking for one that doesn't use it.

Go to http://www.google.com/reader/ and you will have a RSS reader for free without having to install anything at all.
No you need the Net framework in order for it to work thats why it askes you for it. otehrwise dump the rss reader
