How do you resolve the error code 643?

I have windows vista home premium edition and when windows automatically updates itself, it tries to install update Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929729). It fails to install it due to an error code of 643. I have tried contacting Microsoft about this and they don't seem to care. Can anyone help. Thanks

Basically, it involves un-installing .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack

1.

Then download and use (Run as Administrator) the Windows Installer CleanUp

Utility, and remove all references to .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service

pack 1 (only!).

Then reinstall .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1:

Then run Windows Update again, to install KB929729.
